The Bismarck, her sister ship was the Tirpitz, was put into service in August 1940. She went into operation under the command of Captain Ernst Lindemann and was at that time the largest and most powerful battleship. She could reach a top speed of 30.1 knots (approx. 56 km / h). Their armament consisted of eight 380 mm QFG L / 47 twin guns, twelve 150 mm QFG L / 55 twin guns, 16 105 mm L / 65 A / A and 16 37 mm A / A and 12 20 mm A / A cannons. She sank at the end of May during World War II after heavy fighting with units of the British Royal Navy and most of its crew in the North Atlantic.
