In the 1970s, the US Mobility Equipment Research & Design Command (MERDC) developed a system of camouflage patterns for US Army vehicles. Each camouflage pattern consists of 4 colors (two primary and two secondary colors); local terrain conditions determined which of the patterns should be used.
