In 1970, the US Mobility Equipment Research and Design Command (MERDC) developed a system for coloring camouflage patterns on United States Army vehicles. They consist of a color scheme of standardized patterns for each vehicle, made up of twelve colors. This set contains all the tones needed to create gray patterns or red desert camouflage.
